We never could include these effects properly until the end of Directors days (Rally Point 3 & BR5) - even then it was hard to get them running properly and fast enough. Unfortunately, these effects are all 'brute-force' - since Director doesn't support shaders or even shadows. Since the beginning of our Director development days we always had some 'fancy' stuff running behind the scenes.

Burnin' Rubber 5 references the location "San Burrito" with the level San Burrito Airport.It is the first game in the series to feature the cars receive damage.It is the first game in the series to attribute daily challenges with exclusive tracks.It is the first game in the series to introduce hidden packages.It is the second and the last game in the series to not feature weapons.Hidden Packages are located in each level, once they are all collected, they will unlock the Inferno 66, with maxed out stats, easily being the best vehicle to be found. And then head their way onto circuits such as Steep Mountains with the help of health, nitro and points multiplier pickups in order to collect enough points from pickups scattered across the track, allowing to win without dying and unlock new challenges like Saint Rossa Reef and new vehicles like the Panther V8. The player starts off with two available vehicles: the Phaser GTI and the Spryster Turbo. The player is supposed to complete sprint challenges in city, canyon, forest, and snow environments where they race against three opponents.
